Lilliput House sits on the quiet side of Clarens, a 200-metre stroll from the town square, and fifteen minutes from the golden sandstone cliffs of Golden Gate Highlands National Park. It’s the kind of position that lets you do everything or nothing at all: gallery browsing and long dinners in the village, sunrise hikes through the Maluti foothills, or simply morning coffee on the deck with the Rooiberg range filling the horizon. A private country stay for two, right where the mountains meet the magic of South Africa’s most beloved little town.

Getting to Lilliput House

From Gauteng (±3.5 hours)

Take the N3 south toward Durban. Exit at Warden onto the R714 to Bethlehem. Pass through town and join the R712. Clarens is 30km ahead, tucked into the foothills.

From Bloemfontein (±3 hours)

Take the N1 north toward Johannesburg. After Winburg, follow the N5 to Bethlehem. Continue through town and pick up the R712 toward Clarens, roughly 30km and 25 minutes of easy driving.

From Durban (±4 hours)

Follow the N3 toward Johannesburg and exit at Harrismith onto the N5. From there, take the R712 through Golden Gate Highlands National Park, arguably the most beautiful approach, and worth every minute.

Once you reach the village, Lilliput House is just off the town square. Detailed directions will be shared with your booking confirmation.
